With huge thanks to Jacqueline Purnell for championing this day and inspiring Jane to run this day for the first time, Jacqueline is forefront at enticing experts to come forwards and be heard at these wonderful days directed at Teachers to gain their Continuous Professional Development.

Jacqueline asked for a small article and Sarah Galloway attended and has written the following piece on the day:

"Sitting on out mats with Jane Slevin positioned at the centre, we wait in anticipation as to what a practice for life means to us. An IST day, that from the start, sounded intriguing & curious. Jane, a personable & highly experienced teacher of yoga, presents "fascia" a word I wasn't hugely adept with. A network of fibrous connective tissue within the body, weaving our bones, muscles, organs, blood vessels and nerves together. Learning about fascia & how it is vital to consider when teaching our classes & moving our own bodies, to prevent injury and keep us supple, brought an understanding and appreciation, as Jane broke it down in simple terms making it accessible to all.

Jane chanting the yoga sutras in Sanskrit in turn as we lay in stillness in savasana, brought about a sense of peace and referring to them throughout the session gave an greater understanding as they can be difficult to access and relate to for some of us.

Then followed a truly enlightening yoga practise, a combination of Ashtanga & vinyasa flow, to encourage us to go beyond what we already know & are comfortable with in our current practise. Encouraged to tune in and listen to our bodies & use random movements before holding an Asana, put fascia in motion & our bodies and minds working as one. Not putting too much of the thought into what we were doing was key, rather to tap into what our bodies needed & to go with what felt right brought about a feeling of release & newness to the practise.

Yoga nidra to complete the day which left me feeling satisfied & eager to look into the practise of Ashtanga and this idea of moving more before holding the linear postures we have become accustomed to. The title of practise for life became clear, as there is much I would take from the session to use both personally and professionally. A big thanks to Jane who I hope to see at another IST day in the near future."
